EFFICIENCY AND COST BENEFITS IN TICONTRACT LINK
Tendering with TICONTRACT, the e-sourcing solution for freight purchasing, has brought major advantages to Parker Hannifin, according to Mark Parsons, the company's European Transportation and Logistics Manager.
Parker Hannifin, a US based company is the Global leader in motion and control technologies with an annual turnover of over $10 billion across 8 product groups and over 60 divisions. The Company used TICONTRACT expertise for tendering groupage and LTL movements across 120 locations in 17 countries covering most of Europe.
The Pan European Road freight tender provided by TICONTRACT covered all transport modes – Full Truck (FTL), groupage, LTL (less than full truck) and small/parcel shipments and was used for both domestic and cross-border shipments. In total, over 167,000 shipments, over 57,000 tonnes and over 3,700 lines were covered through the tender. TICONTRACT enabled Parker Hannifin to bundle these data, create a joint structure and to manage tender processes from beginning to the end.
Mr Parsons declared: "We have benefitted through a huge amount of data, a considerable increase in efficiency and major cost savings."
"TICONTRACT provides a user-friendly system that we are able to utilise without too much support", explained the Transportation and Logistics Manager Mr Parson. "No one knows their logistics as well as the dispatchers themselves", says Scott Stevenson (Manager Business Development UK, TICONTRACT). The tender generator takes the user through the process step by step. Even complex request matrices with price fields, text fields and drop-down menus are easy to create. Once a matrix has been set up, it can be used again as a standard template. Then just details like relations or transport volumes need to be altered for different tenders. "Setting up the TICONTRACT system took half the time that the job would have demanded if it had been done manually using spreadsheets", so Mr Parson.
Via the extensive pool of providers with over 13.000 carriers and the detailed search profile you are able to find those service providers who match your requirements. Mr Parson explained that before TICONTRACT came on the scene 80 per cent of their work was spread amongst 15 carriers, now they are planning to reduce the number of carriers to five or six.
TICONTRACT has a multitude of evaluation and filtering functions, as well as the possibility of simulating different scenarios of supplier commissioning. "The system allows us to take quick decisions and to undertake holistic analysis of a particular tender module. However, the main prize is to be able to look at specific offers by companies. Also, using a modern and professional system enables us to look our best in the eyes of the industry."
